The early 2000's witnessed the evolution of electronic discovery tools and workflows designed to manage the very first cases involving ESI, addressing the proliferation of electronic documents subject to discovery. Today’s investigation needs have evolved, and the explosion of potential electronic data sources has multiplied exponentially, further complicating discovery and elevating costs. Join industry pioneers and veterans who have helped set the standards in the legal industry as they discuss new practices to tackle this new era of emerging data at The Master's Conference on October 28th at 4:15pm at Sidley Austin, 1501 K Street Washington DC.
The panel of experts includes George Socha, Managing Director of BDO Consulting’s Forensic Technology Services, who pioneered the first organizational structure around management of the discovery lifecycle known to the industry as the EDRM. Joining George on the panel are longtime industry colleagues Tracy Drynan, Senior Staff Attorney of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton and Greg Freemyer, Director of Forensics and Disputes for SullivanStrickler LLC.
Tracy brings her extensive legal expertise and her electronic discovery lifecycle experience that spans everything from interpreting requests for information to identification of sources of relevant data. Greg Freemyer provides a forensic focus with his years of experience as an expert witness, providing computer forensic expert services for incident response and litigation support. Moderating the panel will be our own Trent Livingston, a twenty-year veteran of the industry and CEO of ESI Analyst.
The Masters Conference panel “Emerging Data Sources: Connecting the Dots for Disparate Data” will discuss various types of often overlooked sources of ESI and identify how each can be connected to tell a better story. The panel will discuss the challenges of data types spanning sources such as #Slack, WhatsApp, geolocation, text messages, accounting data and more.
George Socha has been named an “E-Discovery Trailblazer” by the American Lawyer for his service in a variety of industries, including pharmaceutical, energy, retail, banking, and technology, among other fields. He is co-founder of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) as well as the Information Governance Reference Model (IGRM). His contributions to the industry as a renowned thought leader are wide-spread, culminating in more than 50 articles, over 200 speaking engagements, in lectures at universities across the United States, and in continued use as expert testimony.
Tracy D. Drynan is an expert across the E-Discovery lifecycle, from interpreting Requests for Information and Complaints and identifying relevant information, to producing data after vetting and processing for protected privilege and PII. She is the Senior Staff Attorney of Information Governance and eDiscovery group within the Commercial Litigation Group, whose main focus is understanding how and why clients generate and utilize digital information, providing advice on best uses of that information, and outlining how to minimize the risks of its associated storage.
With over 10 years of experience as a Testifying Computer Expert, Greg Freemyer has submitted Expert Reports in Federal cases and has been accepted as an Expert Witness in Federal Civil Court and for ESI Collection. He has led and participated in numerous investigations to determine the nature and scope of computer incidents and any potential data loss and is primarily focused on issues related to Intellectual Property Theft.
